The Aptos is named for a small coastal town north of Monterey, CA. Growing up in California near the coast, I visited some really cool beach homes and house-boats. I always loved the tables I would see in these houses that were influenced by the laid-back, contemporary surf lifestyle of the day, but I could not find anything like it being sold today new or used. Too many of those original pieces were one-offs or not professionally made so they just didn't last.

I make the Aptos from 1 1/2" thick solid California redwood. I get this beautiful wood from decks and other structures made in the 70s and 80s when the wood was still really fine. Each piece is hand matched to the form for maximum beauty, strength and character, making no two tables alike. The surf striping is solid white fir and runs completely thru the table. The legs are hand bent from solid chromed steel, capped with custom machined aluminum feet with thick rubber tips. Table is finished with 3 coats of satin urethane.

I also created an upscale version of the design to incorporate higher end materials with a more refined edge treatment, yet still using reclaimed materials.

This is a rendering of the table in Mexican Rosewood.

This version of the table was never produced as I felt it was starting to get away from the original character of the design.

The shipping packaging also incorporated reclaimed materials.
